The BHPA 2011 Scientific Committee decided to give the "Young Physicist Award 2011" to Julien Smeets for his presentation "Monte-Carlo study of prompt gamma emissions for range control in hadrontherapy. J. Smeets et al., Université Libre de Bruxelles, Brussels". This year, this award was focused on an educational gift: registration and travel fees for a major congress in Europe, thanks to the sponsoring of Aquilab, CCurie and CHU de Charleroi.
